In the misty highlands of Banguitan, Besao, Mt. Province, where the rugged slopes meet the sky, coffee farming is more than just a livelihood—it is a legacy. At 82 years old, Sir Francis Paltican Sr. remains one of the most respected coffee growers in his community. A pioneer in his own right, he has been cultivating high-altitude Arabica since 2006, paving the way for sustainable coffee farming in Banguitan.




His farm, perched on steep, mountainous terrain, is accessible only by foot, making every harvest a labor-intensive yet deeply rewarding process. Here, coffee trees flourish under the shade of wild forest canopies, their roots drawing from the rich, organic soil. This natural environment, combined with the cool climate and high elevation, produces some of the most complex and refined Arabica beans in the Cordillera region.
